Spacehopper performing live for the MauiWaui Festival Live Stream
Spacehopper was founded by Chris who plays synths and produces the core sound.
Mena plays harmonic techno lead guitar and Darren plays driving bass guitar.
Previously playing with Celtica, Phil was Spacehopper's orginal Bass player. Now after a short break, Mena has returned playing techno lead guitar, harmonising with the Spacehopper sound to perfection.
Chris has been performing live dance music at parties, festivals and raves since 1990. Chris produces and shapes the Spacehopper sounds while playing synths and mixing the percussion and guitars.
Darren drives the bottom end of the Spacehopper sound with his bass guitar adding filtered resonant wobs.
Spacehopper perform regularly on the festival circuit. For 2022 we have been booked to perform as a main act for Solfest, Landed, Whirl-Y-Fayre and Equinox festivals. You may have seen us at Bearded Theory, Maui Waui, Cosmic Puffin or at many other venues throughout the UK.
Our first release - the 'Sounds and Colours' single on Magick Eye Records hit the 'Number One' spot on the Beatport Charts. It was featured on iTunes Germany and in Record Collector Magazine. Our second release - the 'Trancendance' single on Magick Eye reached 'Number 7' in the Beatport Trance Charts.
In 2022/2023 we are planning a selection of digital EP releases followed by an album release which will be available on vinyl.
We prefer to mix ourselves live on stage and provide a stereo output to your sound crew. Some venues and events do not have full mixing desks and sound engineers. For these, we are a self contained unit and can integrate within a usual DJ setup plugging straight into a DJ mixer.
